Louis's day
Nearly time for bed so say Louis lol, but I wanted to quickly add an entry as to how Louis is getting on.
| Louis and Bandanna |
Louis sporting a Yin Yang Bandanna and he's so cute in it lol. He's keep it on for 4 days I've also got a red one he can have as well, we've been to the field and he broke his extending lead the first time I had him out with it lol so then he had to run around with a long lead, one good thing he slept well when we got home and later that night. Another thing I love about him is that where ever I am sitting he will sit with me, that's why I bought the furry rug so he'd have something to lay on when I am on my computer and when I sit on the sofa he cuddles up to me, so sweet.
He's taken to winding the poor dog up in the opposite garden and when ever he/she is out there he won't settle down and keeps crying to go out there. He's still a puppy so he starts to play fight me while moaning lol so funny.
He's putting weight on so that's another good thing, and his ribs hardly show anymore he's looking like he's supposed to now, I'm going into Petathome in a few days and get him weighed and a woman who works for the RSPCA told me that they do micro chipping for £10 so got to find out about that as I want to get him micro chipped.

Louis
I was recently accepted by Battersea dogs home to adopt a dog, I had been missing having a K9 around and just didn't feel right after losing my Doberman.
I was so happy that day I was told they had accepted me that I put a status on Facebook about it.
Later on that same day I was contacted by someone who told me she had just been diagnosed with osteoporosis and was finding it very difficult to cope with the 2 dogs she had. She said she had a 6 year old Labrador but he wasn't the problem as he was placid but she couldn't cope with the 18 month, she told me he was a Labrador also and would I be interested. So I told her I had thought about Labrador's at one point. I made arrangements for her to bring him here and that's when I met my Louis.
He isn't a pure bred Labrador as you can see, although we've been told by someone who's had a generation of the same line of Labradors that sometimes they have ears like that. But I think he's just amazing, he's highly intelligent and keeps me amazed every day. He knows a variety of tricks, even begs, he does take it or leave it and sits so patiently and waits for his lead to be put on I don't understand why she couldn't cope he is very well behave. But he does need neutering, so that's next on the agenda. I think because he's the younger of her 2 he would start her other dog off making it hard for her. Being as he's un-neutered probably tried mounting her other dog. Could be a variety of reasons, but what ever the reason I'm just thankful I met him and he's mine now. He needed fattening up and I've had him a month today and I can see improvement already.
Sadly 2 weeks after getting him, I lost my 19 year old cat to kidney failure so I've had some heartbreak too. She couldn't walk at the end and was urinating herself so we thought it was kinder to have her put to sleep. Still miss her and at the moment I am finding it very difficult to look at her photographs although I did make a video tribute for her.
I miss them both so much, but I am moving forward with my life and now I have Louis and he gives me a lot of love and daily pleasant surprises. He didn't like the brush when I first introduced it to him but with lots of treats and patience I can now brush him, in fact he even rolls onto his back and I brush his tummy. The funniest thing he does is when he comes in from the garden and I wipe his feet he'll roll onto his back so it's easy to clean his paws. Can't believe how fortunate I am to have him, don't know whether it's the fact that my 2 previous dogs were an English Bull Terrier and then a Doberman but he seems so easy and sweet. He puts himself to bed at night which is a dog bed in my bedroom, he'll just go in there lol.

Doberman
The Doberman, Karl Friedrich Louis
Dobermann’s perfect creation, originally bred for protection and guard
duties this beautiful animal after breeding for better temperament is
now a great house pet, with a better temperament and is a great
companion pet.
Here in England they are natural with
uncropped ears and an undocked tail but in some countries have dock
tails and cropped ears such as the USA.
I first fell in love with this breed when I
was 12 , my family ran a pub and got a female doberman to guard the
premises, although she let a burglar in because she was in our beds. She
was a great companion and would travel with me everywhere I went much
to my Mum’s relief as I’d travel from North all the way through to South
London and beyond. It was because I knew people who lived that far away
but they had understanding parents who also let her into their homes.
My greatest love was Soloman who was my
constant companion and he died recently, this is a painting I drew using
a photo of him as a reference.

R.I.P Soloman
It's been a while since my last post, my poor dog Soloman had to be put to sleep on 13th October because he had cancer. The most shocking thing about it was it was so sudden.
On the 28th of September we paid a visit to the vets to find out about getting a fatty tissue lump removed and all was good and surgery was arranged for the following Tuesday. On our way back Soloman was quite a puller being a large Doberman he was usually strong and very protective and me being 5'2" struggled with him sometimes, I was worried because he would bark and jump up random people but never ever bit, but Dobes have long claws so he would scratch sometimes and sometimes off the lead he would run at people and headbutt them into the air and they'd fall over.
So I pulled him back so he wouldn't get out of control and he coughed.. This was the beginning of the end, this was a Friday and all weekend he had this dry cough and I was worried.
On the Monday 1st October I took him back to the vets who told me this was kennel cough and Solly wouldn't do it in front of other people, so the vet put his hand around his neck I suppose where an Adams apple would be and Solly wheezed so he prescribed him some anti -biotics which I gave to him religiously.
Then Thursday 11th October the cough suddenly changed for the worse
but I just thought it had loosened up and was phlegm. From that moment
he deteriorated so quickly Friday night he couldn't lay down or sleep
with out the cough making him get up and that night he spent mainly on
his feet I am only glad I was with him as I decided to stay up with him
and I got about 2 hours sleep.
On Sat morning the 13th October, when I got up he was foaming at
the mouth and wanted to stand in the garden, I couldn't help notice he
was trembling then my son came into the room and said he had coughed up
blood.
By that time and a couple of hours later by the time I got
to the vets he was heavily bringing up blood and at first the vet
hadn't seen this and listened to his heart and started along the lines
of heart decease and telling me what my options were. But with that he
coughed up a huge amount of blood and the vet said to me there was no
doubt in his mind, my Soloman had cancer and the state he was in meant
it was his time to go. (Put to sleep).
I never imagined I'd lose him so quickly and it's taken a while to get over the loss I still miss him terribly..
He was my baby, my child, my companion. He'd been there for 10 years and gave me so much love, made me think it's not fair that we get such a short time with them. I made this video for him.
