Restoring Mom

Was hard to talk over today as I have a room full of men and dog and a cat all being noisy lol well the dog and cat just want my attention :) and I was waiting for peace which never came so I decided to let the pictures do the talking..

This as a harder photo restoration for me because it was scratched to bits but I saw it and thought I want to do it! I need the challenge especially as I am building a portfolio with my photo restoration. So this is the result I'm pleased with it :)

Comparing Photoshop to Paintshop Pro

I tried Paintshop pro for photo restoration, I don't know whether it's because I am so used to PhotoShop now but Paintshop Pro seemed much more clumsy and harder than PhotoShop, the only thing that made it good was the time machine to add to it and make the photo look younger so maybe it's worth having 2 programs to do different jobs on one photograph well I do anyway :P

It was terribly cold and almost dark on the last evening of the old year and the snow was falling fast.In the cold and darkness a poor little girl with a bare head and naked feet roamed through the streets.She had possessed a pair of slippers when she left home, but they were no use because they were very large, so large because they had belonged to her mother and the poor girl had lost them running across the street to avoid 2 carriages that were going way too fast. One of the slippers she couldn't find and a boy seized apon the other and ran off with it.So the little girl went on with her little naked feet which were quite red and blue with cold.In an old apron she carried a number of matches and had a bundle of them in her hands.No one had brought anything off her the whole day nor had given her a penny, shivering with cold and hunger, she crept along, poor little child, she looked the picture of misery.The snowflakes fell on her long fair hair, which hung in curls on her shoulders.The lights were shining from every window and there was a savory smell of roast goose, for it was new years eve, yes she remember that. In a corner between 2 houses she sank down and huddled herself together. She had drawn her little feet under her, but she could not keep off the cold, she dared not go home for she had sold no matches and could not take home even a penny for money. Her father would certainly beat her, besides home was almost as cold as here, for there was no roof to cover them.Her little hands were almost frozen with the cold. she decided to burn a match to get some warmth from it even just her fingers. She drew one out and striked it apon the wall, it gave a warm bright light like a little candle, as she held her hand over it, it was a wonderful light.It seemed to the little girl that she was sitting by a large iron stove with polished brass feet and a brass ornament. How the fire burned and seemed so beautifully warm that the child stretched out her feet as if to warm them up. when lo! the match went out, the stove vanished and she had only the remains of a burnt match in her hand.She rubbed another match against the wall. It burst into flames and where the light fell upon the wall it became as transparent as a veil and she could see into the room. The table was covered with a snowy white table cloth, on which stood a splendid dinner service and a steaming roast goose, stuffed with apples and dried plums. And what was still more wonderful, the goose jumped down from the dish and waddled across the floor, with a knife and fork in it's breast, to the little girl. Then the match went out and all that remained was nothing but the thich, damp, cold wall before her.She lighted another match and then found herself to be sitting under a beautiful christmas tree, It was larger and more beautifully decorated than the one she had seen through the glass door at the rich merchants. Thousands of tapers were burning upon the green branches, and a colored pictures, like those she had seen in the show-windows, looked down upon it all, the little girl stretched out her hand towards them, and the match went out.The christmas lights rose higher and higher, till they looked to her like stars in the sky. Then she saw a star fall leaving behind a bright streak of fire. "Someone is dying" thought the little girl for her old grandmother the only one who had ever loved her, and who was now dead, had told that when a star falls a soul is going up to God.She again rubbed a match on the wall and a light shone around her, in the brightness stood her grandmother, clear and shining, yet mild and loving in appearance, "Grandmother," cried the little one, "O take me with you, I know you will go away once the match burns out, you will vanish like the warm stove, the roast goose and the large glorious christmas tree" and she made haste to light the whole bundle of matches, for she wished to keep her grandmother there. And the matches glowed with the light that was brighter than the noon-day and her grandmother appeared so large so beautiful. She took the little girl in her arms and the both flew upwards in brightness and joy far above the earth, where they was neither cold or hunger nor pain, for they were with God.In the dawn of the morning there lay a poor little one, with pale cheeks and smiling mouth, leaning against the wall, she has frozen to death on the last evening of the old year and New-year's sun rose and shone upon the little corpse! she still held in her hands the matches, one bundle which was burnt. Ray of Sunshine

I used a program called Dynamic Photo HDR for this photo, it's a brilliant program.

I uploaded my photo I took over a field near to where I lived and wanted to see if I could make it effective with the sun rays coming through, I had tried it with Topaz and Photoshop plugin but wasn't entirely happy with the result. Then I heard about Dynamic Photo HDR and always on the look out for new and improved programs I decided this was a must have.

As you can see from the result from the above photo it's a pretty good piece of software.

This was it before I used the program.

I used Photoshop to get rid of the date and added Little Fluffy Clouds to it after

one of my deviantart accounts

The good thing about this software is, it doesn't matter what level of photographer you are your photos will look stunning after you've run them through it. You can mess around with the curves which will basically make some areas more lighter than others etc to get the effect you're after. There's a colour equalizer and Hue all of which you can mess around with until you are happy that this is the effect you are after.

The Beast of the night

OK, bare in mind this is an experiment. I had seen photo manipulations with people in them and looked up a tutorial on the internet and the model you can see in the background was a freebie, unfortunately my computer crashed and I haven't got the url to give the person a reference :( . Obviously if you've seen my photo's taken yesterday you will come to realise the background is one of them, but of course manipulated a little first. I was looking through the internet for Jaguar pictures (cat) when I stumbled across this amazing bike, so instantly I decided I had to make a magazine cover with it, It's way too cool not too.

Found here you've just got to check it out. It really gets the wow factor, there's also a charging

bull bike which would be right up my street as I am Taurean.

I'm not a big fan of Motorbikes, for reasons too personal to write about.

But I appreciate, creativity, art and craftsmanship, I just think they are great.
